Artist Paco Curbelo was born in Lanzarote, later studied in Barcelona and came back to Lanzarote and currently a professor at the School of Volume Pancho Lasso in Lanzarote. He has also been recipient of many awards, including the "César Manrique Trophy". Owing to his remarkable work, he has also contributed in making marvelous looking roundabouts.
The Roundabout of Puerto Calero - Lanzarote has a sculpture of "Homage to Sailing" and a sculpture depicting fishermen, at the harbour in Arrecife called "Levando Redes" meaning "Leading Networks". He made another monument called "Sterlitzia" near Avenida de Las Playas - Lanzarote.
The more recent sculpture was of a Camel Family at the roundabout of LZ-2 road leading to Uga, made by him along with his students from School of Volume Pancho Lasso.
Paco Curbelo works with materials like wood, marble or basalt, to create waves, sea, wind and space.
