On the occasion, Mayor of Yaiza, Gladys Acuna noted the importance of livestock and agriculture in the village of Uga and the importance of the camel in the region. The Mayor thanked the council and the artist for their efforts for the initiative which represents the works of men and women who have generously contributed to protect the landscape of La Geria and the work of the camel in Uga and the rest of the island to keep the valuable Timanfaya and its surroundings, beautiful and intact. The mayor also referred to the work by the vets at the Cabaña Camellar in Uga, the largest in Europe since 30 years.
The work on the sculptures was started in September 2014. The artist has 25 more sculptures around Lanzarote and Fuerteventura like the "three women of Puerto del Rosario" or "the boat" on the roundabout at the Puerto Calero entrance.
There is also an information board where all the details of the sculptures can be read and take photographs.
