That is enough to keep Lanzarote in third place among the Canary Islands' airports, behind Gran Canaria, which saw just under 1.2 million passengers, and Tenerife South, with 954,710. Tenerife South had the biggest drop of the major airports, down 4.2%, and Fuerteventura was down 2.4% at 543,486.
The smaller islands bucked the trend. La Palma's airport grew by 8% and El Hierro's by 3.6%, and Tenerife North was up slightly at 0.5%.
In total, 4,204,223 passengers passed through the Canary Islands' airports in September, also down 0.9%. Just over 2.24 million were on international flights, and 1.95 million were travelling within Spain. The airports handled 39,080 flights and 2,540 tonnes of cargo between them.
Over the first nine months of the year, the Canaries have seen 40.5 million passengers, almost exactly the same as in 2025, with a 0.5% rise in domestic travellers balanced by a 0.5% fall in international ones.
The winter flight season starts at the end of October, bringing extra routes from the UK and northern Europe. If you are arriving soon, our Lanzarote weather forecast has the week ahead.
