That makes it comfortably the biggest British operator on Lanzarote. Last year Jet2 customers made up more than a third of all UK visitors to the Canaries, and the company now employs 715 people across the islands.
The figures came out of a series of meetings Jet2 held around the archipelago in September, called Partnership for Growth. More than 300 people attended, mostly hoteliers and villa owners, with sessions in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Chief commercial officer Adam Mulroy said they showed the company's long-term commitment to the islands.
Lanzarote Airport handled just under six million passengers in the first eight months of the year, slightly fewer than in 2025, and more than half of arrivals are British. Jet2 added La Palma this summer, so it now flies to five Canary Islands, and Jet2holidays has joined RegNext, the Canary Islands' regenerative tourism programme.
If you are flying in with Jet2, the main resorts of Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca are all within an easy transfer of the airport.
