Puerto del Carmen opens the season from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 February, with the theme "La magia del circo", the Magic of the Circus. Teguise follows with a full week of Carnival in Costa Teguise and La Villa de Teguise from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 February. Its theme, chosen by public vote, is "Tropicalia, sabor a Carnaval", which won with 30.3 per cent, just ahead of Teguise in Wonderland on 29.6 per cent.
The season moves south in March. Playa Blanca holds its Carnival from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 March, with "Ritmos latinos", Latin Rhythms, as its theme and the main parade on Saturday 6 March. La Graciosa celebrates on the same dates.
In the capital, residents voted for "Las mil y una noches", The Thousand and One Nights, as the theme for Arrecife's 2027 Carnival, though the city has not yet published its dates. Haría, San Bartolomé, Playa Honda and Tinajo are still to announce their programmes, as are the dates for the queen elections, the drag gala and the Burial of the Sardine.
If you want to time a holiday around the parades, book early, as accommodation in Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca fills quickly on Carnival weekends. There is more on what to expect, from the murgas to the costume parades, in this guide to Carnival in Lanzarote.
