Lanzarote has a warm, settled week ahead, with the AEMET forecast giving highs of 26 to 29°C from Monday through to Sunday and mild nights of 20 to 22°C.

Excursions Lanzarote

The first half of the week is the cloudier half, though most of it is thin, high cloud rather than anything heavy. Tuesday is the breeziest day, with a north-easterly reaching 35 km/h in the afternoon, before the wind drops to a light easterly from Thursday.

Wednesday is the warmest day at 29°C, and Friday and Saturday bring the brightest skies of the week. The one day to watch is Sunday, when there is a 75 per cent chance of light rain.

It is a comfortable week rather than a hot one. Highs sit in the high twenties every day, the nights stay warm enough to eat outside, and apart from Sunday the rain risk is close to nil. AEMET has no weather warnings in place for the island.

The UV index reaches 6 to 7 each day, which is in the high band. High cloud does little to stop it, so the burn risk is much the same on a hazy morning as in full sun. Factor 30 or higher before you go out, a fresh coat around midday, and a hat and sunglasses for walks and boat trips.

Friday and Saturday are the pick of the week for the beach, with the most sunshine and the lightest winds. If you have outdoor plans for Sunday, keep them flexible and pack a light jacket.

Tuesday's north-easterly will make the north and east coasts choppy, with Famara and Costa Teguise feeling it most. Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and the Papagayo beaches stay more sheltered. From Thursday the wind falls to around 10 km/h, and most of the coast is calm.

Rain on Sunday

Sunday's rain is forecast as light, and showers in Lanzarote rarely last long or reach every part of the island. If you have a boat trip or the ferry to La Graciosa booked, check with the operator that morning. On a wet afternoon, the Cueva de los Verdes, the Fundación César Manrique and the Lanzarote Aquarium are all under cover, and there are plenty more attractions in Lanzarote to fill the time.

Early Starts and Mild Evenings

Walkers should still head out early, while the air is cool. Around Timanfaya and La Geria the volcanic ground holds the heat through the afternoon, even in October. Evenings stay mild at 20 to 22°C, so a light layer is all you need after dark.
