The Consortium Security and Emergency of Lanzarote reported that the Directorate General of Security and Emergency Canary Islands Government has declared the Pre-alert for unfavorable weather conditions due to Calima on the islands of Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, from 13:00 hours on December 1, 2015.
It is advisable to follow the below given recommendations due to Calima:
- Try to keep doors and windows closed, and avoid going outside if you suffer from chronic respiratory diseases.
- Make sure you have your regular medication.
- Drink plenty of fluids and avoid dry environments.
- If you feel unwell, seek medical attention.
- In this situation, visibility is greatly reduced if traveling on the road, use caution, turn on the lights and drive slowly.
