In 1975 his uncle Domingo formed an ethnographic research group Awañac, in this group Tonin performed different works, including the recovery of couplets Victor Fernandez Gopar . In 1985 he traveled to Tenerife to study guitar with Professor Alvarez Silvestre. In 1986 he moved to Paris continuing his studies in classical guitar, harmony and composition. He worked with Blas Sanchez, Cristian Salmon and Didie Prat. He continued his studies at the Conservatory of Saint Moure with Professor Michelle Ponce, while also taking classes from Roland Dyens. In mid-1991 he returned to Cardiff where he opened his school and various musical activities by enhancing the quality, freedom and making a clear reference in the insular musical spectrum. It is in 2004 when his first album "Arrecife" came out.
In this, Toñín presented a sonic universe that reinvents its own identity, fusing tradition and modernity by transcending beyond island boundaries for dialogue with arrivals from other parts of the world influences. In 2007 he released his second album "Sal y Arena", and in 2011 he presented his work "Lanzarote Music", inspired by the landscape, history and people of his native island.
Timplista Toñin is now very much in Lanzarote, and you can experience his fabulous music every Saturday at 22.30 pm with his band, a saxophonist, a guitarist and a drummer in the stunning volcanic caves of Jameos del Agua. Tickets: € 2 residents, 9 € non-residents.
