The proposal was planned weeks in advance with the help of the Aer Lingus crew, where Mr.I popped the question to Miss.I soon after the flight took off from Cork International Airport to Lanzarote International Airport. Miss.I was shocked when Mr.I said "I was going to do this in October but I can’t wait that long, I just want to ask you, will you actually marry me?”on the plane's PA system, going down on a knee. There was a huge applause by a plane full of holiday makers to the island, and to everyone's delight Miss.I laughed and accepted Mr.I's proposal saying "I’m going to kill you"!!!
The Aer Lingus crew also arranged for a bouquet and a champagne bottle for the couple for the rest of their journey.
