It has been a month now since the opening of Europe's first Underwater Atlantic Museum in the Canary Islands, located in the waters, south of Lanzarote.
The underwater museum has nearly 400 sculptures created by the artist Jason Decaires. The Underwater Museum has been attracting a lot of international attention, like the teams of the NBC, EE and UU. The Forbes magazine also have helped spread the news about the museum and the importance of how the sculptures of real people of the island of Lanzarote will help in growing coral and marine life.
The Museum is located 14 meters below the Atlantic Ocean, on the papagayo beach front, covering an area of 2.500 square metres where divers can dive to see the museum. A more striking piece in the museum is the Raft of Lampedusa, which depicts the current humanitarian crisis, inspired by how sailors were abandoned during a shipwreck in The Raft of the Medusa, a painting by French Romantic painter Théodore Géricault’s displayed at the Louvre Museum.
This is another reason to visit Lanzarote if you love marine life, you could see the museum yourself where sculptures become an important part of the sea and help in regeneration of marine life.
You can now book your place 2 weeks in advance to see the Underwater Museum, if you live in Puerto Del Carmen or Costa Teguise then you can choose Underwater Museum Lanzarote - Qualified Diver or Underwater Museum Lanzarote - Beginners.
If you are not upto going to the Underwater Museum, then go for Snorkeling or scuba diving too.
