For the resort's visitors and residents, the real interest is in the new routes the station is expected to bring. Chief among them is a direct bus to the airport, something Costa Teguise has never had, which would do away with the current need to travel into Arrecife and change. A new link to the surfing beach at Caleta de Famara is also lined up to run from the hub, connecting two of the busier corners of the Teguise municipality.
Built on a 6,000 square metre site beside the Centro Cívico, where Avenida de las Palmas meets Avenida del Jablillo, the interchange has bus platforms, a taxi rank, a ticket office, toilets, storage and a cafeteria. It will run along the same lines as the transport hubs already operating at Puerto del Carmen and at Playa Reducto in Arrecife.
Getting here has taken time and money. The contract first went out in early 2024 at about €2.36 million, and though the building work wrapped up weeks ago, the opening has been put back more than once across 2025 and into 2026. Extra funds signed off at the start of this year took the final bill to roughly €2.61 million, leaving the project more than €250,000 over its original budget.
