Today the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has asked the population of the island to exercise "extreme caution" before the forecast for rain, wind, coastal storm and even possibility of snow, specifying that if this occurs "do not climb to the summit to see it" until you are authorized to do so.
According to the Cabildo, "Forecasts indicate wind gusts up to 70 mph, showers and two feet of snow from the 1,500 meters or even below that level, take all necessary precautions. If it snows, do not climb to the summit during snowfall for the great dangers involved in driving and road surface, especially in its freezing point, with risks of accidents."
The Cabildo assured that, when the snowfall has stopped, the Cabildo will organize a safe path for incoming and outgoing traffic, and issue recommendations to follow to safely enjoy the scenery."
