Lanzarote's Timanfaya National Park is already famous for being surrounded by more than 100 volcanic mountains or more popularly known as "The Fire Mountains". There is another unique feature which you must not miss, at the El Diablo (translated as devil) Restaurant, situated on a dormant volcano, bursting with heat or hot vapor, with the Timanfaya National Park as a backdrop, food is cooked using geothermal heat coming out from a hole in the ground.
The food is cooked on cast iron grill at temperatures reaching 400 centigrade and more, making it delicious and a memorable lunch in Lanzarote, surrounded by the unique martian landscape. When the restaurant was being made, the owner of the El Diablo Restaurant, consulted scientists and volcanologists who checked on the safety of the unusual method to cook food. The grill has nine layers of volcanic basalt rock, especially designed by architects.
