Like Cueva de Los Verdes, Jameos del Agua is situated inside a partially collapsed volcanic cave in Municipality of Haria, north of Lanzarote. it has a harmony between nature and art, and the very first tourist works done by renowned artist Cesar Manrique.
Inside Jameos del Agua
You cannot miss the huge sculpture of a crab welcoming you outside Jameos del Agua, already hinting you about the tiny albino crabs, also called "jameitos" swimming in a salt lake with another dozen species, connected to the ocean, once you are inside a huge cave.
There are paths leading you to El Jameos Grande, with lush plants like palms and bougainvilleas, surrounding an emerald green pool. The other side of this area, leads to an underground auditorium, with amazing acoustics, used for concerts, shows, events, meetings with a seating for 550 people.
About the Restaurant
If you take another path down the steps, you will be amazed to see a beautifully decorated underground a la carte restaurant and bar. It is an amazing experience to dine and dance below sea level on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Cafe and Museum
If you are not so keen on having a meal, then you could of course climb up the zigzag steps located near the pool and hang out in the cafe on the terrace. Or you could just have a browse in the museum about Volcanism, also on the terrace.
When and How do I visit Jameos del Agua?
Jameos del Agua can be visited from 10:00 am to 18:30 pm and on Saturday: From 10:00 am to 22:00 pm. The Restaurant is open from 11:30 am to 16:30 pm and the Cafe from 10:00 am to 18:30 pm every day. The visit is an hour long.
