The Quemao is the name of a wave which originates in La Santa, the International surfing and bodyboarding competition is named after this wave. The Quemao wave is technically demanding and dangerous to surf, reaching up to 13 meters in height, displaying one of the greatest shows of nature and testing the participants. A total of 64 surfers and bodyboarders, have been selected depending on their experience and skills, recognizing them as global elite 'riders'.
The competition does not usually have a fixed date, since it all depends on when a good wave would develop, according to the organizers of the competition, 23rd and 24th January 2016 show favorable conditions for the wave, but if these are the final dates can only be confirmed later.
