The IInd International Championship of Surfing & Bodyboarding 'Quemao Class 2016' was a grand success, held in La Santa on 24th and 25th January 2016.

Excursions Lanzarote

On Sunday, 24th January 2016, La Santa saw thousands of fans come together to enjoy the Quemao Class 2016 championship. The sea conditions were also optimal with constant winds resulting in excellent waves, giving the 64 participants a great head start.

There were many local but renowned surfers like Carlos Márquez, Jonathan González, Franito Sáenz and Manuel Lezcano, along with Joan Duru, Aritz Aranburu, Marc Lacomare, Eukeni Masa, William Alliotti, Natxo González and Roberto Damico who qualified for the quarter finals on Monday, 25th January 2016, which was the second and final day of the competition.

The Bodyboarders who qualified for the quarterfinal round are Salomon Moore, Diego Cabrera, Amaury Lavernhe, Roberto San Roman, William Luján, Ruymán Rey, Alex Uranga and Oliver Arbelo.

A tribute was made in the memory of local surfer David Infante, 'El Fula', who had died in January 2009. The competition was sponsored by Cabildo de Lanzarote with Lanzarote Tourism and the City of Tinajo.

On Monday, the Surfers who stole the show by winning the competition are:

1st Place: Dimitri Ouvré

2nd Place: Aritz Aranburu

3rd Place: Franito Saenz

4th Place: Natxo Gonzalez

The Bodyboarders who won the competition are:

1st Place: Amaury Lavernhe

2nd Place: Alex Uranga

3rd Place:Moises Dorta

4th Place: Salomon Moore

So overall, the event was a success with so may participants and audience on 2 beautiful sunny days .
