One of the best summer holiday destinations is Lanzarote for sports. One can enjoy various sports activities like Diving, Golf, Horse Racing, Karting, Kayaking, Marine Excursions, Sport Fishing, Tennis, Trekking and Wind Surfing.

There are quite a few International Sporting events like the Lanzarote International Marathon, the Ironman Triathlon Lanzarote and the Spring Duathlon. There are some more local events too like:

Music Marathon

This event takes place in Puerto del Carmen in March. This event is for the whole family of 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km runs with kid's races too. Entry fees goes as a donation to charity.

The Desafio Octava Isla

This event takes place in La Graciosa for 2 days in February. The first day holds Cross Sprint Triathlon and the second day is a trial run around the island.

Timanfaya Triathlon

This event takes place in Playa Blanca in February. It is a 20 km bike course towards Yaiza.

Tri122

This event includes a half and Olympic distance in March. This is a bike race heading to the North of the Island and the Tabayesco climb.

Volcano Triathlon

This event takes place in Club La Santa in April. This triathlon sees bike loops around the resort.

Lavatrail

This event takes place in Playa de Arrieta in April. The entire run is 91 kms long.

Harï¿½a Extreme

This event takes place in Harï¿½a in June. There are 32 km, 22 km and 10 km trails which are part of the Spanish and Canarian cups, covering some really tough terrains.

The Wine Run

This event takes place in La Geria, Teguise in June. There are 21 km and 10 km trails which includes running, Lanzarote wine and local mouth watering delights.

San Marcial Trail

This event takes place in Yaiza in July. There is a choice of two distances, 20 km and 10 km trails which involves climbing up the cliffs on the side of the valley.

Tinajo Xrace

This event takes place in Tinajo in July. There are 3 distances in this trail run, 52 km, 26 km and 10 km.

Triatlon RCNA

This event takes place in Arrecife along the sea-front in July.

Carrera K10 Yaiza Xtreme

This event takes place in Yaiza in August. There is a 10 km trail race on a muddy obstacle course.

Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote

This event takes place in Club La Santa, Tinajo is a popular triathlon in May and October. There is a swim in the lagoon , a testing bike course and the Tabayesco climb and the race finishes in La Santa village. This race is a qualifying race for the championships.

Ocean Lava

This event takes place in Puerto del Carmen in November. There are two distance triathlons, the half distance and quarter distance. This race starts with a swim from Playa Grande, then a bike course with some challenging climbs and ends along the coast back at Puerto Del Carmen.

Lanzarote International Marathon

This event takes place in Costa Teguise in December. It is one of the major sporting events.
