Halloween is as we all know is celebrated on 31st October every year and is a short name for All Hallows’ Evening.
In the Gaelic culture, people celebrated Samhain, a Celtic Festival for the end of harvest, where they prepare for the winters by making stock of food. They believed that this day overlapped the world of the living and the world of the dead, and if the dead come back to life they could destroy the crops. To evade evil spirits. they would light bonfires. People would wear costumes to imitate evil spirits.
Of course now, Halloween mostly involves children going to houses for a Trick or Treat and Halloween parties where everyone is dressed in costumes.
Did you know, in the North of Lanzarote, the village of Haria's outline resembles a "WITCH"!!!! But the village is more famous for its 10,000 palm trees and beautiful landscapes. You can enjoy the village in the Excursion - North Tour.
