The weather in the Canary Islands will see lots of hot temperatures, like was in La Palma since Wednesday afternoon. The forecast for the weekend could point towards warmer and windier weather with less humidity. Similar weather could be felt in the south, east and west of Gran Canaria.
Temperatures today are expected to see highs above 36 degrees in the area of La Palma, and could rise more than 37 degrees Celsius in the areas of peaks of the Isla Bonita, especially affecting the west of La Palma on Saturday.
The weather in Canary Islands have seen increase in temperatures due to warm air has a Saharan origin. The AEMET had also raised the weather notice of Orange alert for today, with high temperatures of over 37 degrees throughout the archipelago mainly affecting the interior areas. The coasts generally have mild temperatures except the southeast coast of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera East. Fuerteventura & Lanzarote, will also be affected. Whereas, Gran Canaria will see the maximum temperatures exceeding 39 degrees in inland areas in the south.
Weather in Canary Islands On Saturday and Sunday
The Aemet has given notice for Saturday to be orange alert throughout the archipelago and soaring temperatures are expected. The maximum temperature in Canary Islands could slightly fall on Sunday, with a yellow alert notice for high temperatures in the peaks of La Palma and in the south, east and west of Gran Canaria.
The Aemet, the Directorate General for Safety and Emergency, Government of Canary Islands have given maximum alert since yesterday for risk of forest fires in the western province of Gran Canaria and maximum temperatures alert throughout the archipelago from 08.00 pm today. It is the first time this summer that the high alert has been declared for the risk of fire on the Islands.
