The promotional campaign was presented by the Minister of Tourism, Government of the Canary Islands Lanzarote, Maria Teresa Lorenzo on Tuesday in Lanzarote at the Press Conference. The minister said that this initiative "promote the islands as a destination for weddings, honeymoons and romantic celebrations".
How are the contestants selected?
According to the Minister, the campaign has two stages and would be soon released to be shared on the social media for the contest "A Wedding In Lanzarote". The following would be the selection criteria:
- Why the couple should have a wedding in the Canaries?
- Depends on their social media sharing about the Canaries and fan following.
A promotional video will also be made to be released in Spain, France, UK and Germany, since these are considered to be a high Tourism Sector. This campaign is a pioneer in the industry. The whole campaign has a budget of 185,075 euros.
Who can participate in this campaign and when?
The first stage will take place between December 9th 2015 and January 11, 2016 and is open to Internet users over 18 years and living in Spain (except residents in the Canary Islands), Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Norway and Sweden. The winning couple gets to obtain a greater number of autographs and stories made by friends and family on the website created for this purpose. The wedding will be held in Lanzarote, with 100 guests, a Wedding Planner, air travel and half board hotel accommodation, "among other gifts and surprises," explained the Ministry.
Weddings Statistical Data:
A wedding in Spain on average would cost €16,534, ranging between €11,864 and €21,205, according to the latest data from the Federation of Independent Users and Consumers. According to a survey done by the magazine "You and Your Wedding" in January 2015, the average cost of a wedding in the UK would cost you over £20,500 and in June 2015, the Brides Magazine said it costs up to £24000, that means a wedding in the UK in Euros would cost between €28,300 and €33200, which means you could save between €10,000 to €15000 or £7000 to £10000, which is a huge amount.
What will the winners get in return?
In addition to rewarding the winning couple with their wedding, the winners would receive other gifts like services of preparation of the bride and groom bouquet and custom designs of invitations, space for the ceremony, banquet, DJ, decor, music, and even a photo essay with their language interpreters and open bar.
Where and how can you enter the contest?
Applicants may enter the contest through a tab within the Wedding Contest Website in different languages and once inside, you can download an online album dedications to send to your guests and they themselves fill the motives as to why this couple deserves to win the award. "Participants with signatures and dedications will be the winners and celebrate their wedding in the Canary Islands, making this a memorable day in history", said the Ministry of Tourism.
