Exodus: Gods and Kings Movie Shot In Fuerteventura Exodus: Gods and Kings Movie Shot In Fuerteventura

The Canary Islands have been part of quite a few movies, the latest being Exodus: Gods and Kings, an epic biblically inspired movie, directed by Ridley Scott, where some parts of the movie were shot in the Sand Dunes of Fuerteventura.

According to residents, the crew also shot at the lagoons in El Cotillo. The scene in the movie where Moses is parting the Red Sea, was also shot on the island. Interesting to know that in the Red Sea scene, around 30 to 40 people actually accompanied Christian Bale (Moses) while crossing the Red Sea and the rest were computer generated, along with the 180-foot wave, the horses and the chariots, there were 400,000 humans depicted in all !!!!!

Anyway, coming back to the crew, they were also seen chilling out at the beaches. By the way, did you know that Fuerteventura has lots of Naturist beaches (Nudist beaches) ? The beaches here are less crowded which means you're chance of a quiet swim !!!! Also the natural environment of the island comes under the UNESCO biosphere reserve since 2009. The local government too strives to preserve its beauty through sustainable tourism.

No wonder the beauty, golden sandy beaches, deep blue clear waters and volcanic landscape drew Ridley Scott, the director of the movie to film some scenes here. According to some locals (that's insider news for you !!!!) he could be planning on buying a villa here !!! Wow hope it comes true, there could be one more tour worth visiting "Ridley Scott's Fuerteventura Villa" !!!! Just kidding, we welcome the director or any celebrity or visitor for that matter to come to the island and enjoy their stay here as a tourist and a resident.

Whether you have watched the movie or not, the best way to appreciate the beauty of the island is to actually go there !!!!! We know that's what you've been thinking !!!! So what are you waiting for? If you have planned a Lanzarote holiday or are already on the island, why not spend a whole day enjoying the sand dunes of Fuerteventura.
