According toFrancesco Rapisarda, Director of Communication, Ducati said that Ducati are back to the island "because we are in love with Lanzarote, and journalists who attended the event in 2010 remember it as a unique experience". He also said that the new model is "a revolution rather than an evolution of the current model". The company has chosen Lanzarote because there is less traffic, beautiful landscape, smooth roads and a good rest at the top of the class hotels for the 150 journalists from 28 nationalities, 10 international tv channels and 200 odd general and specialized media, who would be coming for the launch, including the 2011 superbike world champion, Carlos Checa.
The first glimpse of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 will be viewed in the auditorium of the Jameos del Agua. The new Multistrada 1200 easily adapts to any roads ensuring superior performance, versatility, comfort, safety and fun. It weighs 232 kg with full tank and has the Ducati Testastretta DVT with Desmodromic Variable Timing, L-Twin cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder, Dual Spark, liquid cooled, 160 bhp power, 6 speed gearbox and much more.
One can personalise the bike from the four riding modes they offer - Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro depending on the riding conditions. It has a convenient semi-rigid tank bag meaning you can keep your smartphone handy and charge it thanks to the practical USB port. It has a hands-free ignition, cruise control, safety pack and much more.
So next week you will see lots of journalists whizzing this bike some 200 miles on testing roads, but will make sure they also take in the beauty of the landscape and in turn showcasing Lanzarote as a prime and elite tourist destination.
