The yellow alert is due to adverse coastal phenomena in the Mediterranean according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
There will be rain in Tenerife and La Palma, including 30 Spanish provinces are on alert for heavy snow and winds of over 70 kilometers per hour. There may be persistent rainfall in the Cantábrica and western Pirineo, and locally heavy rain at dawn in the Canary Islands, along with a noticeable drop in temperatures in much of the peninsula, with snow at lower elevations of the northern half. Intervals of strong wind like the mountainous eastern third of the Peninsula and the Canary Islands, and even very strong at the mouth of the Ebro.
Of these 34 provinces, eight will have orange warning namely Cantabria, Burgos, León, Palencia and Asturias if the snow accumulation reaches 25 centimeters; while Castellon and Tarragona will have gusts of wind that will be around 100 kilometers per hour and Girona will have strong waves.
There will be yellow alert for snow in Huesca, Guadalajara, Ávila, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Zamora, Lleida, Madrid, Navarra, Lugo, Ourense, Pontevedra and La Rioja.
Winds also will be strong in the provinces of Huesca, Teruel, Zaragoza, Ávila, León, Palencia, Lleida, Madrid, Alicante, Valencia, La Rioja and Álava. While, high waves with yellow alert in the islands of El Hierro, La Gomera, La Palma and yellow alert for rain for Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Castellón, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa. Menorca will be on yellow alert too.
The skies will be cloudy or overcast in the Cantábrica and western Pirineo areas, with persistent rainfall. This weather will also affect, though with less intensity and especially at dawn, in other areas of the northern half of the peninsula. In the rest of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands there will be generally cloudy weather, with slightly cloudy intervals at the end of the day, except in the extreme southwest peninsula where it will be partly cloudy all day.
In the Canaries, the skies will be cloudy in the north of the islands, with heavy rainfall early morning, and cloudy skies during the rest of the day, without discarding some weak showers.
Generally, the temperatures will drop on the peninsula, except in areas of Galicia and the Mediterranean coast, where as in the Balearic and Canary Islands, remain little changed. The decline in temperature will be noticeable in the day in much of the peninsula, and generally weak frosts are recorded in some areas of the northern half of the peninsula.
Finally, there will be westerly winds turning north in most of the Peninsula and Balearic Islands, with intervals of strong winds in parts of eastern peninsular and mountain areas, which will be very strong at the mouth of the Ebro. North Canary will have moderate to strong winds.
