This is a must if you are visiting Lanzarote for the 1st time or the 100th time....Not To Be Missed, especially when you are on a holiday and an opportunity to experience something new is worth the effort!!!!

Tradition of the Procession of the Three Kings

Unlike the UK, US or any other part of the world, Spanish people celebrate the procession of the Three Kings on Camels or Cabalgata de Reyes fervently. In Spain, it is celebrated with enormous and spectacular rides in all cities, towns and villages, large or small, where all sweets and gifts are distributed.

The Epiphany (an Anglo word) or the arrival of the Magi officially begins on the night of January 5th, where hundreds of people take to the streets for the procession of the Three Kings. With all the streets lit up for Christmas, nativity scenes at various places, and Christmas carols playing, the Three Kings procession on Camels with elaborate floats and goodies for children is something very unique.

On 5th January, before going to bed children leave their shoes, and some goodies to be eaten by the Kings and their Camels. The next morning, the kids discover the eaten goodies in exchange for gifts. Also you must definitely try the Kings Cake, a typical Spanish Christmas Breakfast, decorated with fruits symbolizing the precious stones that adorned the elaborate clothing.
