First, for those who do not know or do not recollect what a solar eclipse? a solar eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks ("occults") the Sun.

To have a more community feel to this event, you can join the Lanzarote Active Club on Playa Las Cucharas beach in Costa Teguise, where you can join others to observe the solar eclipse using special telescopes from 08:30 am to 09:30 am.
If you missed the solar eclipse in the morning, you can still join the Lanzarote Active Club for a fun and educational presentation with Dr. Raúl Martínez at the Arrecife Planetarium. One will be experiencing a digital simulation of the universe to explain the solstice, equinox and solar eclipse with information in English. The visit is from 18:00 to 19:00 approximately. The cost for either of the events is €15 per person including transport from your hotel accommodation and if attending both the events then discounted to €25 per person. To fully enjoy the eclipse, don't forget to carry special eye protection or you can use indirect viewing techniques, since looking at the eclipse directly could result in blindness or permanent eye damage.
