To give a glimpse of what one can expect underwater, British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor, has signed a contract with the Lanzarote government to arrange his ensembles on the seabed off Las Coloradas Beach, near the popular resort of Playa Blanca. He chose this site because the "amazing seascapes" will provide a "gateway to the Atlantic and encourage people to love the planet more through an understanding of marine life", reports the local Voz de Lanzarote newspaper.
The sculptor has designed similar installations in Grenada and Mexico. The purpose of the cement artworks is designed to attract plant life and colonies of sea creatures, the artwork is modelled on local people. The museum will take two years to complete, totally funded by the local government to the tune of at least 700,000 euros ($875,000; £500,000), with 2% of revenues saved for ecological research.
When this project gets finished, visitors can view the scuptures and the sea life around it from a submarine or a glass-bottomed boat, or swim and snorkel around the sculptures, an exciting and once in a lifetime experience!!!!!
