On Friday, 23rd October, the airport in Lanzarote was full of passengers with lots of flights being delayed or diverted, due to adverse weather conditions today in the island of Lanzarote. According to reports from AENA, the Spanish Airports and Air Navigation Authority, this afternoon the situation on the airfield is far from normal throughout the day, with a total of 11 flights being delayed from Lanzarote.
Some planes managed to land in time with low visibility in some cases and a tail wind, in others, causing nine flights to be diverted to Fuerteventura and two on Gran Canaria. The AENA also noted that flights diverted to Gran Canaria have arrived back in Lanzarote, and some flights which were diverted to Fuerteventura are airborne back to Lanzarote (when this information had gone for printing).
There are no reports of any flights being cancelled. But please make sure you check with your airline for any delays or diversions....you might want to wait a day longer and take your flight tomorrow to avoid delays. Tomorrow the weather is expected to be better than today.
