Lanzarote in September is an ideal time for couples who want to have less crowds on beaches, since holidaymakers go back to start work or schools in Europe.
The weather however gets hotter, so look for an air-conditioning accommodation for when you want to be indoors. Evenings can be cool. Temperatures could be around 29 degrees C in the daytime, but evenings can be cold at 10 degrees C, so carrying some warm clothes is good if you want to spend sometime outdoors. There are chances of rain during this month, but will not definitely spoil your holiday.
There are quite a few local fiestas which you can enjoy, like:
- Fiesta in Yaiza on September 8
- Fiesta in Tiagua on September 9
- Fiesta in Guatiza on September 14
- Fiesta in Mancha Blanca on September 15: This is one of the important ones, where locals pay homage to the town’s patron saint, the Virgin de los Dolores (Our Lady of Sorrows), there is a church mass, processions, folk festival and a massive craft fair.
Ironman 70.3 on September 20 at the Club La Santa is something you should not miss. Whether you plan to participate in or just be an audience to. There are three races - 1.9 km Swim – 90.1 km Bike – 21.1 km Run. The winner gets to qualify for the 2015 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship to be held in Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria.
