October can be an ideal tropical beach destination with plenty of sunshine with cool breeze during the day and occasional rain. Evenings are pleasant and call for memorable al fresco evenings, may require you to carry a light jacket or a wrap. There is little chance of dust sand storm called Calima blowing from the Sahara Desert. Temperature in the daytime is 27 degrees C and nights can be comfortably at 19 degrees C.
October is gaining popularity for a recently introduced annual event called “Gastronomy Week”. This week celebrates the island’s local Canarian cuisine, especially seafood, with enthusiastic participations seen from many restaurants all over the island.
Sporting events which attract crows are:
- The World Pro surfing contest: This is held at Famara beach and is one of the most awaited sporting events.
- International Bike Weeks: This is held at the Club La Santa between October 31st and November 14th. The participants have tough terrain to cycle on like Famara-Montaña Blanca, El Golfo and Tabayesco.
