Before 1852, Teguise was the old capital of Lanzarote and a cultural powerhouse. Teguise village has been witness to many pirate attacks, various settlements and rich cultural heritage, while standing firm in the center of Lanzarote, so Teguise old town is aptly declared as an Architectural Historic Site .

Things to do in Teguise:

Since Teguise is a major tourist and cultural town, there are couple of things to do in Teguise:

Teguise Market:

The Teguise market is open on Sundays and that is when hordes of tourists throng to the popular market to buy local products, canarian food, souvenirs, gifts, aloe products, local wines and much more. For a happy shopping experience “always bargain”. You can go to the Teguise Market from Playa Blanca or Teguise Market from all other Lanzarote resorts.

LagOmar:

LagOmar was named after the British actor Omar Sharif, who happened to visit Lanzarote in 1970’s while shooting for a film “The Mysterious Island”. He fell in love with the house, won and lost the house in a game of Bridge against the then British developer, a champion Bridge player and owner of the house.

The house was later transformed into a museum which is a true masterpiece, built around natural volcanic rocks, has natural caves and lakes. The interior and exterior of the house has use of local wood from shipwrecks, natural growth of flora is incorporated in the form of palms, aloe vera, bougainvillea and cactus, looking every part an Oasis within a huge volcanic rock.

Visiting LagOmar is one of the best things to do in Teguise. Book the North Tour to truly admire the incorporation of nature around to create beautiful architectural designs for the museum .

The Teguise weather is pleasant throughout the year, and it being a cultural hub has lots of modest Teguise hotels.
