Jameos del Agua was created by eruptions of La Corona Vulcano and located inside a volcanic tunnel like the Cueva de Los Verdes. It's name comes from the underground salt water lagoon inside the unique geological formation.
The cave has a spiral staircase made from volcanic rock and gives way to the Jameo Chico or Small Jameo. This area has beautiful vegetation and ornamental elements. The internal lake houses rare species of blind albino crabs and especially interesting to those who want to have a great scientific experience. The unique crabs are known as 'jameitos' and symbolize the caves.
Cesar Manrique, a Lanzarote born artist has transformed these natural jameos into an Auditorium, Swimming Pool, Gardens and Restaurants blending in the volcanic landscape.
