Church Nuestra Señora del Carmen is located in Playa Blanca is relatively a recent construction. It was built on a rectangular plan in 1965 thanks to the pressure exerted by the local people in order to give the patron saint of sailors a worthy temple.
The Church has a single nave, built with masonry and stone archway at the front door.
Today, this church is the home to 3 statues of the Virgin del Carmen: the original Playa Blanca, one that was given by a villager and a new one recently acquired by the people.
Earlier, the Virgen del Carmen was located in an estate belonging to the army (artillery)
and was taken care by a family where the doors were opened for the sailors and their families so that they could pray and ask for protection from the Virgin.
