Puerto Del Carmen, also popularly known as PDC is the main tourist town of Lanzarote, with a very pleasant weather averaging 24°C. It is just 15 minutes away from the airport.
Puerto Del Carmen has hundreds of bars, restaurants and shops along the beach front, it is great for daily family life and a great night life too. It also has many great beaches, both small and large with crystal clear waters.
Playa Grande, a "Big Beach" is a family beach perfect to go with kids because of it's calm waters, is a wide, comfortable beach, possesses service areas with bathrooms, showers, toilets and changing rooms, vending machines for drinks and snacks, holiday hammocks, umbrellas, boats, diving and water sports equipment.
One thing to consider is that this beach is a base of the Red Cross and the beach is patrolled by lifeguards. The beach is beautifully decorated with palms, especially in front of the Atlantic Mall, there are small circular stone guards, here you can see tourists relax, read and sleep.
This beach hosts the year's biggest sporting event, the Ironman Lanzarote.
